We now have the details on the state local journalism tax credit applications, and we’ve scheduled an informational webinar for 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025. The webinar is free, thanks to a grant from the Joyce Foundation, but advance registration is required to participate.

We’ll be joined by legal and tax experts who will walk you through the state’s application process and answer your questions. The experts are Brendan Healey, an attorney with the Baron Harris Healey law firm in Chicago, and Larry Johnson, a tax expert with Sikich Certified Public Accountants. We’ll also be joined by Don Craven, the president and CEO of the Illinois Press Association. The webinar is being hosted by Tim Franklin and the Medill Local News Initiative at Northwestern University.

It might be helpful for participants to review the materials on the DCEO website before the webinar.
