Do you have what it takes to have your finger on the pulse of what's fun about Springfield? The State Journal-Register has an immediate opening for a digital features editor. This person is responsible for planning and executing vibrant daily online content centered on local entertainment, arts, pop culture and lifestyle. He/she will assign and produce engaging stories, lists and multimedia content. He/she also would coordinate the packaging of this content for the print edition's features sections, and also will coordinate some special sections. Our features sections also include The Voice, which is written by and for high school students. What you need to succeed in the job: strong online and social media skills, excellent organization and planning, attention to detail, and core journalism fundamentals. Previous experience as an editor is strongly encouraged, but not mandatory. Video editing skills also are helpful, but we'll look at candidates who are ready to learn. College degree and at least two years' experience is required. Applicants should send a resume, a statement explaining how they'd approach the job and links to no more than six work samples to Angie Muhs, executive editor, angie.muhs@sj-r.com. No phone calls, please. The SJR is an equal opportunity employer.
