The Pioneer Press, the Chicago Tribune's group of suburban papers, are seeking a full-time general assignment reporter to cover a geographic beat in the suburbs of Chicago.

This energetic reporter should be comfortable doing everything from covering breaking news and attending city council meetings to writing feature stories and examining local issues in education.
This reporter will also seek out opportunities for investigative or project stories and be able to work with visual and digital journalists to tell stories in a variety of media. The reporter will develop sources and write must-read stories in their towns, making themselves an authority on the area they cover.
The qualified candidate will likely have experience working in a fast-paced news environment; excellent writing skills and the ability to tell a story; excellent news judgment; an understanding of journalism ethics; and a passion for local news. We are open to candidates with a variety of journalism skillsets.
