Kankakee Valley Publishing has an immediate opening for a general assignment journalist, with emphasis on sports reporting. The ideal candidate has the ability to focus on all aspects of community journalism, including taking pictures and writing stories about local happenings. This candidate should have a proficiency in Photoshop, Indesign, and TCMS BLOX pagination. Multi-media skills are also ideal. Qualified candidates should have the ability to multitask in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment while being able to work autonomously in a team-driven setting. We are searching for a candidate to become a part of the community and build relationships. This is a full-time job with Kankakee Valley Publishing, based in Watseka, Illinois, working for a combined newsroom of weekly titles in East Central Illinois/West Central Indiana.
