Part-Time Editor The award-winning Cass County Star-Gazette (www.beardstownnewspapers.com), based in Beardstown, Illinois, is seeking a part-time Editor. Our community newspaper serves as the eyes and ears of historical Cass County. The position offers a flexible schedule and a friendly and positive work environment. The right candidate will have the skills to write and edit a weekly newspaperand will be passionate about reporting community news from Main Street to area towns. Knowledge of sports coverage is a plus. You must be curious, enjoy asking questions and have good writing and grammar skills. You must also be able to take photos when covering events. Skills required: • Editing written articles, including obituaries and news releases • Work with freelancers and correspondents and assign events for them to cover • Knowledge of In Design is desirable • Oversight of the Star-Gazette Facebook page. • Creativity is a plus as you will help design our front and inside pages. • Strong commitment to the profession of news and community. • Meet news deadlines. This is a perfect position for someone who has reporting backgroundexperience, or hasa journalism education and wants to tell the stories of Beardstown and the towns throughout Cass County.
