The Herald & Review in Decatur, Illinois, is looking for an ambitious, creative reporter to cover politics, civic affairs and municipal government.

We're seeking a talented wordsmith and digital journalist skilled at using all of the tools at his or her disposal to help readers on all platforms understand how government decisions impact their lives. We expect perspective and analysis that make our coverage indispensible to our audience.

An enthusiastic passion for watchdog journalism, exploring new newsgathering techniques and telling stories in surprising ways is a must, as is a desire to work in a collaborative environment. This position also will contribute to coverage of the Illinois Statehouse in Springfield.

Decatur is in Central Illinois, a few hours from Chicago and St. Louis, and offers a strong news environment with no shortage of topics and trends worthy of pursuit. We offer affordable living, a beautiful lake and plenty of activities.
