The State Journal-Register, an award-winning daily in Springfield, seeks two part-time sportswriters. These sportswriters take scores and quotes over the phone from coaches on deadline, input season schedules and team rosters, write some stories and perform other duties as designated by supervisors. Applicants must have knowledge of Springfield and surrounding area, as well as local high schools. They also should have knowledge of AP style, strong organizational skills, good customer service skills, and the ability to work quickly on deadline and take direction well.
